Frequently Asked Questions
What is Lagree?
Contrary to popular belief, Lagree Fitness is not Pilates. Sebastien Lagree created the Megaformer to be an improvement on the standard Pilates reformer; consequently, some of the first studios were known as “Pilates Plus.”
Lagree fitness has been affectionately known as “Pilates on steroids.”
According to an article in Women’s Health:
Founder Sebastien Lagree developed the workouts in Los Angeles after he noticed how many of his clients were hitting the treadmill directly after their Pilates sessions. “I told them, ‘If you want cardio, I can give you a Pilates workout that gets your heart rate up,’” he says. Eventually, he even approached engineers about designing an amped up version of a reformer that comes with added bells and whistles to give you an even better workout. “There are platforms at both the front and back of the machine, and it has lots of attachments so you can do more with it and hit more muscles,” says Tracy Carlinsky, owner of Brooklyn BodyBurn located in Brooklyn, NY.
Who is Lagree for?
Lagree is for everyone. Men and women, young and old, beginner to elite, athletes, fitness enthusiasts, gym rats, and even people who hate going to the gym. Everyone stands to gain (or lose, as it were) from Lagree fitness.
Lose weight, burn fat & calories, lean out, gain muscle, improve flexibility, look great, feel great – accomplish all these things and more at The Haute Room. We want to know your fitness goals so we can help you achieve them. Try one of our classes today!
Great news for all the coordinationally (it’s not a word) challenged: Lagree is not a dance class, a step class, an aerobics class, or a choreographed body sculpting class. It’s basically you and your Megaformer, making sweet, sweaty music together.
Sure, it helps if you can hold a beat, but even that’s not a dealbreaker. You’ll get an amazing workout regardless.
The great thing about Lagree is that everyone can benefit from it – even someone who has never worked out before.
We won’t lie – it is a challenging workout. You’ll probably have to take more breaks in the beginning, and that’s okay – work at your own pace and you’ll start seeing results in no time!
However, clients who have been regularly attending Lagree classes at The Haute Room may continue working out with us with prior consent from your doctor. As always, consult your physician before starting any new exercise plan.

Give it a try and you’ll see!
Should you have any specific needs or injuries please contact us before your first class.
There’s really no intro required – just jump right in with your first Lagree class! Arrive a few minutes early to get familiar with the Megaformer and get set up.
Your coach will be able to answer all your questions and help you with modifications or whatever you need until you feel comfortable on the Megaformer yourself.
Our classes are never more than 8 people, so your coach will be able to spend one-on-one time with you as needed.
Depending upon your current fitness level and the intensity of your workouts, you may need more or less time to recover.
We recommend taking Lagree classes 3-4 times a week to achieve optimal results.
Remember, your muscles and body can’t change without rest and time to rebuild. We recommend giving yourself two days a week to recover.
If you have received an email confirmation that you have been added from the wait list to class then you are confirmed in the class. If you log in to your account after receiving your confirmation email and it shows that you are ‘unconfirmed’, you are still confirmed in the class.
Think of signing up on a wait list as the same as signing up for a class. If you can not make it to the class, please remember to remove yourself from the wait list or the class at least 12 hours prior to class to avoid any cancellation charges.
We recommend eating a small snack 30-45 minutes before working out, such as an apple, a banana, or a handful of almonds. Eating before your workout will help keep your energy level high and also helps burn more fat rather than muscle.
After your workout: We suggest that you eat some protein within 45 minutes. Eating protein post-workout helps aid muscle recovery. Enjoy a protein smoothie or low fat greek yogurt and berries.
Here are our recommendations:
- Grip Socks Required…clothing optional. Just kidding…but seriously, your safety comes first and grip socks are mandatory. Available in studio for purchase.
- Wear clothes you are comfortable working out in.
- Jewelry is not recommended.
- Please, no cell phones in class. Give yourself 50 minutes of “unplugged” time to focus on yourself – you deserve it!
- No strong perfume or cologne, please.
- We provide complimentary filtered water and snacks for purchase.
By the end of 30 days, you’ll see even more results. From there, watch your transformation unfold and bask in all its glory!
